Project Title: Typographic Systems – Baseline Magazine Redesign
Medium: Print | Format: A4 | Deliverables: Cover + 6 Spreads
This project explores the design and application of typographic grids in editorial layout. The goal was to create a typographic magazine titled Baseline, using only spatial arrangement to build a strong visual hierarchy. By experimenting with alignment, type weight, and scale, I developed a series of layouts that emphasize the expressive power of typography.
As the project progressed, complexity was introduced through variations in grid structures, type styles, and color. The final outcome includes a cover and six A4 portrait spreads, each focusing on a different influential graphic designer. The designs draw on existing branding from Baseline Magazine and incorporate collected imagery and curated texts.
Throughout this process, I explored different types of grids (modular, column, hierarchical, etc.), studied their components, and applied them meaningfully to communicate both structure and emotion. The result is a refined balance between form and function, with special attention to typographic rhythm, clarity, and visual interest.
